Setting up my new Tablet PC site

I am in the process of setting up my new site!!! It is still a work in progress, but it is up and runing...

Visit over at Windows With Ink

I am going to be putting lots of things up there about my tablet and some programs I have been working on like the OneNote Blog Tool (I need to come up with a better name than that...)

Anyways, I will probably be back here some, but most of my time will be over at the new site...

Make sure and bookmark me and vist often.

I am back, sorry for the outage...

OK, so took some things down for a while, sorry for the delay.

I noticed that some people had posted about my project on their blogs. I really didn't want to get into any trouble with anything, so I contacted the OneNote guys to make sure I wasn't violating anything with what I had posted.

Back for good now!!!

Actually, not for good, I am going to be moving to a new location tonight - I hope - If all goes well...

My blog from Onenote 12 on a Tablet PC tool

So as you can see I have been posting up a lot of test posts here. As I am sure you know, Onenote 12 has a new export feature. I have been working with this and creating a new add-in to allow you to use OneNote as a blogging tool.

This is what I have so far:

Export text with title to blog
Export text with title and picture to blog
Export handwritten text (converted) with title to blog

What I am still working on:

Export handwritten notes to blog - this one has been tough

Other things to work on...

Export to a different blog other than Blogger - I wonder what are the most popular for me to work on, any ides out there???

Button in the UI

I know right now this might be a rethorical question with the amount of people that actually visit this here, but does anybody see this as a valuable tool?

My project failed...

So it started out by me taking apart the keyboard that I ordered... Only notice that the keyboard was different, there was no 'finger mouse' - I went ahead an took apart the one on my M4 anyways.

To make a long story short, ther is no way to make holes in the keyboard to let the fan get more air...

Something of note - looks like the finger mouse was added after the fact, the cable for it goes across the top of the keyboard - something my Dell's didn't do.

Now I have a very loose keyboard while typing this (yes, I am typing this one) and it iis really bugging me.

M4 project - maybe tomorrow

Well I said it would be tonight, but my part didn't get here today like I thought...

I hope it gets here tomorrow, if it does, you will know here first!!

BTW - this was done in Onenote and exported straight here for this post, I am getting there...

Toshiba M4 Tablet PC and Heat

So there has been a lot of talk about the M4 and heat - fan running all the time.

To me this is the problem - Poor design

Let me explain why I think this. In my quest to keep the fan off I have done many things, the most extreme - NHC (notebook hardware control). This has helped quite a bit with the temps to keep things cool - for a while. Once you get the thing hot, it is likely to stay hot, that means the fan is running.

Now for the poor design part - the fan is under the keyboard, and the opening for the clean air to come into the fan opening is blocked by a nice thin/wide metal an plastic thing!! That would be the keyboard itself... One thing that works, but is not so practical is to pull off the plastic cover and unscrew the two screws that hold on the keyboard. After that, if you prop up the keyboard a little, the fan will almost immediately turn off. I wonder why, maybe because it can actually breathe?!?!

That said, I am working on something to solve the problem. I should be done with it and will post tomorrow night about the process - if all goes well...

Another First - Signature with my Tablet PC

Another first for me in the quest to find more uses with my tablet - well just to use it more like a Tablet, with ink.

Our company does electronic expense reports in Excel - this was my normal process up until today...
1. Fill out the form on my computer.
2. Print the form to the printer
3. Go and get the form
4. Take it to my boss for approval
5. Let him sign it
6. I sign it
7. Send it via FedEx to Corp.

All of that, might not sound like a lot, but it took time...

This was my process today...
1. Fill out form on my computer
2. Take my tablet to my boss
3. He signs it (on my tablet, he thought it was 'cool')
4. I sign it (on my tablet, I though it was 'cool')
5. E-mail it to the Corp office

DONE - This was so much easier than the other way!!!

Blog from OneNote on my Tablet PC

This is written in OneNote an exported into Blogger. "if" this works I have made some progress.

We will have to see what happens when it gets posted.

I don't know if it will look the same or not.

Let's see how things go after ON Beta 2 is released.

BTW - this was written and exported to here from ON

Tablet PC with OneNote 12 - type format send

This is a test post to test format.
This is a tab.

End of test

Todays use of the tablet - for others to view

OK, so I know I could have done this long before today...

I was sitting on my office today and two people walked in to my office to talk to me. As I was talking to them, there was an issue that we needed to look at on my computer. They were sitting on the other side of my desk as started to come around to look at the screen... they didn't have to.

I set my tablet to 'clone' mode and flipped the screen around to face them - on the other side of the desk. So, I was looking at the LCD on my desk, and they were looking at the same thing on my tablet screen.

Kind of cool, but not earth shattering.

Does anybody know??

Does anybody know if there is a "blog" that will allow you to post up full size images to the post? If I want to display an image, not a thumbnail I haven't found a way to do it on Blogger...

Anyways, things were slow today, kind of got to a testing point last night and didn't make it any further... Oh well as you can see I have made some progress, at least I am getting some things up on the web. We'll see if it gets any better from here on out. I am still waiting for some more documentation so when that happens, maybe some of my 'crap' I am doing to make this work will be a little cleaner. I don't know yet, but I am sure you will see.

And yes, I am not really doing much to make this public, we'll see how long it takes for places to pick up on it though - I hope I am a little further by that time.
