In my quest to keep the fan off I have done many things, the most extreme - NHC (notebook hardware control). This has helped quite a bit with the temps to keep things cool - for a while. Once you get the thing hot, it is likely to stay hot, that means the fan is running.

Now for the poor design part - the fan is under the keyboard, and the opening for the clean air to come into the fan opening is blocked by a nice thin/wide metal an plastic thing!! That would be the keyboard itself... One thing that works, but is not so practical is to pull off the plastic cover and unscrew the two screws that hold on the keyboard. After that, if you prop up the keyboard a little, the fan will almost immediately turn off. I wonder why, maybe because it can actually breathe?!?!

That said, I am working on something to solve the problem. I should be done with it and will post tomorrow night about the process - if all goes well...

Another First - Signature with my Tablet PC

Another first for me in the quest to find more uses with my tablet - well just to use it more like a Tablet, with ink.

Our company does electronic expense reports in Excel - this was my normal process up until today...
1. As I was talking to them, there was an issue that we needed to look at on my computer. They were sitting on the other side of my desk as started to come around to look at the screen... they didn't have to.

I set my tablet to 'clone' mode and flipped the screen around to face them - on the other side of the desk. So, I was looking at the LCD on my desk, and they were looking at the same thing on my tablet screen.

Kind of cool, but not earth shattering.

Does anybody know??

Does anybody know if there is a "blog" that will allow you to post up full size images to the post? If I want to display an image, not a thumbnail I haven't found a way to do it on Blogger...

Anyways, things were slow today, kind of got to a testing point last night and didn't make it any further... Oh well as you can see I have made some progress, at least I am getting some things up on the web. We'll see if it gets any better from here on out. I am still waiting for some more documentation so when that happens, maybe some of my 'crap' I am doing to make this work will be a little cleaner. I don't know yet, but I am sure you will see.

And yes, I am not really doing much to make this public, we'll see how long it takes for places to pick up on it though - I hope I type='text'>In a meeting with a Tablet PC

So today I was in a meeting with a client. I have worked with this client for a couple of years on the same project and now we have been asked to do some other work for them (luckily for me it is in the GIS category that will keep me busy for the next 8 years, talk about job security). Anyways, today's meeting was with a couple of the same people I have been dealing with all along... but there were about 7 of them that were new to the group. I sat down with my bag and everything was fine. I pulled out my Toshiba M4 and started to look at some information for review. I was about 5 minutes early. As I looked around, nobody noticed me as I sat there with my 'laptop' working - seems like old hat now a days doesn't it.

Now for the good part. It was getting close to meeting time and everybody was sitting down, chatting away. The last guy we were waiting on came in the room and sat down and everybody kind of ended their conversations. At the same time many people reached around the table and pulled out their pen a paper and got ready for the meeting - then the silence came... While everybody was ready to start the meeting I took my screen, turned it around and clicked on OneNote 12 to start taking notes. About that time I noticed the silence so I looked up... AT EVERYBODY LOOKING AT ME!!! What a shock! To make a long story short(er) they were amazed that my 'laptop' would do such a thing.

The best part of the story was that for the first 10 minutes of the meeting we talked about my tablet and what it could do... Kind of funny to have an experience like this.

Has this ever happened to you?

3D Ink - sample from the MS Tablet PC Team

What a great program the Tablet PC Team over at MS have put together.
